MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Assumption University women's lacrosse team picked up their first win over a nationally ranked opponent since 2024, as the Greyhounds knocked off No. 20 Saint Anselm College, 14-11 in Northeast 10 Conference action, Wednesday evening at Grappone Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Ava MacDonald got the scoring started for Assumption, as she scored just under two minutes into the contest. Saint Anselm responded with two goals four minutes later, but the Greyhounds responded with three straight tallies to take a 4-2 lead before the end of the first quarter. The Hawks opened the second quarter by cutting the deficit to one with an up-goal early in the frame, but the Hounds followed it up with five unanswered goals to take a 9-3 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, Saint Anselm would trim the deficit down to five, but Loeber would score in the final seven minutes of the frame, to extend the Assumption advantage to six goals (12-6) heading into the fourth. The Hawks would slowly chip away at the deficit, but their run was too late, and the Greyhounds would hold on for a 14-11 win on the road.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Grace Cashman recorded 11 saves in the win.
- Margaret Loeber had a game-high five points, while tying Annie Ettenhofer with four goals.
- Saint Anselm outshot Assumption 33-32, while the Greyhounds won 20-of-27 draw controls.
- Kailey Butler won eight draw controls, while Ava MacDonald had four.
- This was Assumption's first win over a nationally ranked opponent, when they defeated No. 21 Saint Anselm 16-6 on April 2, 2024.
- The Hawks still lead the all-time series 17-11.
