WORCESTER, Mass.– The Assumption University women's lacrosse team celebrated their Senior Day with a 16-9 home win over Southern New Hampshire University in Northeast 10 Conference action, Saturday afternoon at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Aleigh Thompson sparked the offense with her 13
th goal of the season. The Greyhounds offense was unleashed in the first quarter, scoring the first six goals unanswered. The sixth goal was a beautiful team play that began with a midfield ground ball being shoveled ahead to Senior
Kailey Butler. Butler took it end-to-end and wrapped around the cage to score from the slot. After the first quarter, the lead was 6-1.
Molly Trahan started the second quarter with her second goal of the game, and
Ava MacDonald followed up shortly after with her second. SNHU's Piper Knowlton scored her 39
th of the season, and she hit the 40-goal milestone on a free position shot a minute later. Assumption outscored the Penmen 4-3 in the quarter for the 10-4 lead at halftime.
Thompson and Trahan completed their hat tricks in the third quarter. In the final quarter,
Annie Ettenhofer and
Morgan Bolduc completed their hat tricks as well. Assumption played keep away for the final chunk of regulation to close out the victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Grace Cashman recorded 11 saves in the win.
- Molly Trahan scored a season-high four goals. Pairing the goals with two assists, she led the offense with six total points.
- Kailey Butler scored for the first time in her Senior season.
- Shots on goal were 30-16 in favor of the Greyhounds.
- Assumption won the groundball battle, picking up 22 to Southern New Hampshire's 11.
- The Hounds lead the all-time series 13-11.
