NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Assumption University outdoor track and field team sits in third place on the men's side, while the women are in seventh, following the first day of the 2026 Northeast 10 Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the Jess Dow Field, on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the running preliminaries,
Jalen Smith-Phillip (10.59) and
Joel Spaulding (10.74) both qualified for the men's 100m.
Katrina Sullivan (14.27) moved on to tomorrow's final in the women's 100m hurdles, while Torrence Bortletto-McCray (15.56) qualified for the men's 110m hurdles. Smith-Phillip (21.74) qualified for his second event, as he finished fourth in the men's 200m.
DJ Chaudhry (48.68) and
Jada McCown (58.91) both advanced to the 400m final in their respective genders, while
Luke Lamar (55.23) moved on to the men's 400m hurdles. In the 800m,
Parker Thompson (1:56.22) and Will Farley (1:57.26) qualified on the men's side, while
Michaella Namiotka (2:21.56) qualified on the women's side.
Mara Keane (5:06.05) picked up the first points of the day for the Greyhounds, as she finished sixth in the women's 1500m, while
Charlotte Perreault (41.19.41) took seventh in the women's 10,000m.
In the field events,
Craig Gnatek took home silver in the men's hammer (49.42), with
Will Pessina finishing sixth (47.08m). On the women's side,
Madison Lupino (46.99m) garnered bronze with a third-place finish.
Marcos Henriquez (1.80m) grabbed one point in the Men's High Jump, while Assumption had four student-athletes register points in the men's javelin with
Miguel Torres (58.40m),
Taber Lawler (54.09m),
Nathaniel Tyson (52.79m), and
Zachary Carey (52.34m) combining for 15 points.
Ryan Araujo (7.06m) in the men's long jump and Justin Griffiths-Lam (3.95m) in the men's pole vault both finished in third place.
Ava Bernard (2.75m) finished seventh in the women's pole vault to wrap up the individual scoring.
The women's 4x800m relay team of
Mara Keane,
Anna Romano,
Anastasia Hayes, and
Natalie Kostiw (10:41.76) finished fifth, while the men's grouping of
Jackson Gannon,
Eli Lipson,
Brady Thoren, and
Gavin Gareri took seventh (8.29.73).
