Party like its 2012, Softball walks off NE10 Championship, 6-4 over SNHU

RINDGE, N.H.—For the first time since 2012, the Assumption University softball team are the Northeast 10 Conference Champions, as the Greyhounds scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with the title, 6-4 over Southern New Hampshire University, Sunday afternoon at Melissa Bisaccia Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Southern New Hampshire University scored the first run of the game in the top of the fourth inning, as Alyssa Abbott drove in Brenna Howley with a single to center. The Penmen doubled their lead in the fifth with an RBI single by Kaysie DeMoura. Southern New Hampshire pushed their advantage to 4-0 after plating two runs on an error.
 
Assumption would not go away quietly as Jaida Mills drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh to put the Greyhounds on the board. Kaitlyn Cahill drew the Hounds within one with a two-RBI single to right-center field with just one out in the inning. After a strikeout to make it two outs in the frame, Maddy Bland ended the game, as she launched a three-run home run to right field to walk it off for Assumption. 

Paige Cote picked up the win, as she pitched the final 2.0 innings in relief, allowing three hits and striking out one. 
 
This is Assumption's third NE10 Championship in program history, after winning in both 2000 and 2012.  Kaelin Waldron, Kaylee Lacomb, and Maddy Bland were named to the All-Tournament Team, with Bland being named as the Most Outstanding Player of the NE10 Tournament.
