BRIDGEPORT, Conn.– The Assumption University women's soccer team battled the University of Bridgeport in a tightly contested non-conference matchup, but a late goal lifted the Purple Knights past the Greyhounds, 1-0, Tuesday evening at Knights Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption generated the better opportunities in the opening half, as
Rachael Geniuch and
Elizabeth Schoeneberger each put early shots on goal. The Greyhounds continued to apply pressure with attempts from
Elle Bristol,
Ava Normandin and
Emma Seaberg, but the two sides entered halftime scoreless.
The Greyhounds remained on the attack after the break, with
Natalie Matz and Geniuch forcing saves before Schoeneberger and
Zhunay Moulton registered back-to-back shots on goal in the 74th minute.
Kaylin Hebert made a save in the 78th minute, but Bridgeport broke the scoreless tie seconds later on a Keriana Heredia goal. Assumption continued to push for the equalizer, with Schoeneberger recording the Greyhounds' final attempt in the 88th minute, but the Purple Knights held on for the 1-0 decision.
