WORCESTER, Mass.– The Assumption University field hockey team scored three first-half goals en route to a 4-1 non-conference win over Bentley University Wednesday evening at Brian Kelly '83 Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Assumption wasted little time getting on the board, as
Daisy Stone scored just 2:44 into the contest off an assist from
Nova Rijks to give the Greyhounds an early 1-0 advantage. Stone nearly added another late in the opening quarter, but her attempt was turned aside as Assumption carried the one-goal lead into the second.
The Greyhounds broke the game open with two goals in the second quarter. After
Elly Schofer and
Marta Brzoska generated back-to-back chances, Brzoska found the back of the cage at 20:37 off a feed from Schofer to make it 2-0. Assumption struck again at 27:54 following a penalty corner, as
Mieke Rentsch scored with assists from
Racquel Provost and Rijks, sending the Greyhounds into halftime with a 3-0 advantage.
Bentley applied pressure in the third quarter and cut the deficit to 3-1 when Nina Husak scored at 40:32. Assumption responded just over two minutes later.
Giada Broccoli had her initial shot saved before Stone scored her second goal of the night at 42:50, with Broccoli and
Khianna Jackson picking up the assists to restore the three-goal advantage.
The Greyhounds' defense closed out the 4-1 victory in the fourth quarter.
Carolyn Durand made two saves in the final frame and finished the night with four, while Provost recorded a pair of defensive saves.
