WALTHAM, Mass. – The Assumption University men's soccer team saw their five-game unbeaten streak snapped as the Greyhounds fell to Bentley University 1-0 in Northeast 10 Conference action Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Bentley generated the early pressure, recording the first three shots of the contest, but
Federico Foganiokept the game scoreless with a save in the 10th minute. Assumption began to settle in offensively, with
Evan Fletcher putting the Greyhounds' first shot on goal in the 27th minute. Bentley eventually broke through at 32:45, as Owen MacKinnon scored off assists from Kevi Sulollari and Gamaliel Ortiz Rivas to give the Falcons a 1-0 advantage.
The Greyhounds looked for an answer before halftime, as
Cody Holbert generated a pair of chances, including a shot on goal in the 43rd minute that was turned aside. Assumption entered the break trailing 1-0 despite putting two of its four first-half shots on target.
Assumption continued to push for the equalizer in the second half.
Jorgo Karamelo forced a save in the 63rd minute before Holbert put another attempt on target in the 74th. The Greyhounds' best opportunity came in the 84th minute when they were awarded a penalty kick, but Holbert's attempt was saved by Bentley goalkeeper Alessandro Bizzini.
Assumption made one final push, earning a corner in the 89th minute before
Matthew Lamour and Holbert each recorded shots in the closing seconds, but the Greyhounds could not find the equalizer as Bentley held on for the 1-0 decision.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Federico Foganio logged seven saves in the loss.
- Bentley outshot Assumption 13-9, while also maintaining a 10-4 edge in corner kicks.
- The Falcons were caught offsides eight times, while also being whistled for 12 fouls to just four for the Greyhounds.
- Bentley now leads the all-time series 34-14-4.
