Staunton had one of the best seasons in Assumption men's lacrosse program history, as he earned USILA All-American Second Team honors, as the sophomore broke Justin Cecil's single-season goals record of 47 (1995) with 58, while adding 14 assists for 72 points, one shy of Cecil's single-season points record (1995). Staunton was also named as the Northeast 10 Conference Offensive Player of the Year, while also being named to the All-NE10 First Team. He also led the team with four game-winning goals.Â
