Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. (October 22) -- The Assumption volleyball team split a tri-match against Mercy College and The University of the District of Columbia on Saturday.
In the first match of the day against University of the District of Columbia, the Hounds won, 3-1. Ryan Merle (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) had a team-high 10 kills, while Lauren Ostafin (Avon, Conn./Avon) and Sam Lupinski (Waltham, Mass/Waltham) each had nine. Defensively, Jess Reimers (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) led the Hounds with a match-high 14 digs and Kristin Flatekval (Mahwah, N.J./Immaculate Heart) added 29 assists.
The the second match against Mercy, the Hounds fell, 3-1. The Hounds were led offensively by Mary Johnston (Pearland, Texas/Glenda Dawson) who had nine kills, while Merle added eight and Ostafin added seven.
The Hounds move to 7-19 with the split and remain at 1-11 in the conference. The Hounds will take on Merrimack in its next match on October 27th. The match will begin at 7 p.m. in North Andover.
