Worcester, Mass. (November 3) – The Assumption College volleyball team celebrated senior night on Thursday night, the team's final home match of the season. The team honors its team seniors, Sam Lupinski (Waltham, Mass./Waltham) and Britta Leonard (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan).
The Hounds dropped the match, 3-0, to Saint Rose with game scores of 25-17, 25-22 and 27-25. Mary Johnston (Pearland, Texas/Glenda Dawson) had a team-high 10 kills for the Hounds, and Ryan Merle (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) had six in the losing effort. Jess Reimers (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) had a match-high 17 digs to lead the defense, while Kristin Flatekval (Mahwah, N.J./Immaculate Heart) dished out a game-high 20 assists.
Lupinski finished the match with two kills, one block and one service ace, while Leonard added three digs on defense.
The Golden Knights were lead by Sarah Kahrs, who had 13 kills and 11 digs for a double-double. Kaitlyn Kasnica and Chelsea Tyler each had eight kills, while Katy Daniels led Saint Rose defensively with 16 digs. Ariana Wilson had a team-high 19 assists, while Tori Daniels provided 16.
The Hounds fall to 7-21 overall and 1-13 in the Northeast-10, while Saint Rose improves to 14-8 overall and 9-4 in the Conference.
