Assumption 12, Mercy 9

Purchase, NY -- The Assumption Women's Lacrosse team rallied from an early defecit to win 12-9 against the Mavericks of Mercy College on Saturday.

Seven Greyhounds would score in helping the team to the victory, with Sophomore attacker Michelle Santos (Holliston, MA/Holliston) leading the way with three goals. Senior midfielder Erin Theriault (Feeding Hills, MA/Agawam) had two goals and an assist. Sophomore midfielder Steph O'Rourke (Amherst, NH/Southegan) and junior midfielder Elane Bowman (West Hartford, CT/Conard) each had two goals. Freshman goalkeeper Michelle Monahan (Deer Park, NY/Deer Park) had nine saves.

Freshmen Kelsey Bub (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) had four goals for the Mavericks while Kristen Znaniecki (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) had three scores.

After falling behind 3-2, the Greyhounds scored seven straight goals to take a 9-3 lead. They then held off a furious rally by the Mavericks to secure the win.

With a 2-1 record, Assumption is back in Worcester on Wednesday night, March 23 as they face conference rival New Haven.
