Southern New Hampshire 19, Assumption 9
Manchester, N.H. -- A tough start proved too much to overcome for the Assumption Women's Lacrosse team on Saturday, as they lost at Southern New Hampshire, 19-9. The Penmen scored seven goals in the first 10 minutes and 25 seconds, putting Assumption in a 7-2 deficit. Southern New Hampshire never trailed.
Junior midfielder Jade Antonangeli (Bourne, Mass./Bourne) and freshman attacker Ellie Morin (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) did much of the damage for Southern New Hampshire, with each scoring four goals with one assist. Junior midfielder Emily Mongeau (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) had three goals, an assist and seven ground balls for Southern New Hampshire. Junior goalkeeper Hannah Moriarty (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) had 11 saves.
Senior midfielder Erin Theriault (Feeding Hills, Mass./Agawam) had three goals in leading Assumption. Senior goalkeeper Lauren Keating (Nashua, N.H./Nashua North) entered the game and slowed down Southern New Hampshire, collecting nine saves in almost 30 minutes.
Assumption is now 2-3 with an 0-3 record in the Northeast-10, while the Penmen climb to 4-2 and 2-0. Assumption is back at home this Tuesday as they host Le Moyne at 4:00 p.m.
