Worcester, Mass. -- The Assumption men's tennis team lost 8-1 match to the visiting Warriors of Merrimack College on Tuesday.
Assumption seniors Jimmy Mongello (Plymouth, MA / Plymouth North) and Bobby Hurley (Marshfield, MA / Marshfield) teamed to win at #1 doubles, 8-6, but the Greyhounds were unable to capitalize on that win.
Merrimack freshman Chris Barnhart (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow) was victorious at #2 singles, 6-0, 6-0. He teamed with senior Tim McHugh (Edgartown, Mass./Martha's Vineyard) to win 8-6 at #2 doubles. McHugh also won at #4 singles, 6-3, 6-3.
Assumption is now 1-6 with a 1-4 record in conference play, while the Warriors climb to 10-3 and 5-0 in the Northeast-10. The Greyhounds are back in action this Saturday as they head to Stonehill.
