Rindge, N.H. -- The Assumption College women's lacrosse team wrapped up its 2011 season with an 12-11 double-overtime victory at Franklin Pierce University on Saturday.
Down 10-8 in the second-half with just over four minutes remaining, the Greyhounds turned to the duo that had led them all season. Sophomore attacker Michelle Santos (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) scored on a free-position shot with 4:01 remaining and sophomore midfielder Steph O'Rourke (Amherst, N.H./Southegan) would score on another free-position shot with 2:55 remaining that would send the game into overtime.
In the first overtime period, Santos would score again with 3:19 remaining in the period, giving the Greyhounds an 11-10 lead. After Ravens junior attacker Mary Kate Stille (North Quincy, Mass./North Quincy) tied the game with 31 seconds left in the first overtime, Assumption freshman midfielder Kathyrn Beall (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) would score the game winner with 4:28 left in the second overtime period to give the Greyhounds the 12-11 win. The Greyhounds scored four of the game's final five goals.
Santos finished with four goals while Beall had two. Senior defender Sarah Roos (Feeding Hills, Mass./Agawam) also scored two goals in the final collegiate game of her career.
For the Ravens, sophomore midfielder Lindsey Leach (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) had four goals. Junior goalkeeper Jillian Bolduc (Atkinson, N.H./Timberlane Regional) had 23 saves.
The Greyhounds wrap up their season at 7-8 with a 5-7 record in the Notheast-10, the program's best finish since they went 9-6 during the 2002 season.
