Box Score Worcester, Mass. (October 20) -- The Assumption College men's soccer game earned a 2-2 tie against Franklin Pierce University at the Multi-Sport Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The tie marked the first time the Greyhounds had a regular season decision against the Ravens since Sept. 8, 2001, when Assumption beat Franklin Pierce 3-2 in overtime. The Greyhounds tied Franklin Pierce in the 2009 Northeast-10 Conference tournament, but the Ravens advanced past Assumption on penalty kicks.
Assumption fell behind at the 10:15 mark in the game, after Nico Mueller took a long pass from Lucas Cramer, and finished for his third goal of the season.
Following the goal, the Greyhounds took momentum in the game, as sophomore Troy Lamagna (South Glastonbury, Conn. / Glastonbury) took the ball from a cluster in front of the net and finished for his second goal in as many games and his third goal of the season, knotting the score up at one. The time of the goal was 28:36 in the first half.
Coming out of halftime, Assumption continued its momentum with a goal at the 64:20 mark by freshman Nem Kaurin (South Portland, Maine / South Portland), his first career goal, off an assist from Lucas Spina (Holliston, Mass. / Holliston). The goal gave the Greyhounds a 2-1 lead.
The Ravens equalized the score a little over five minutes later as Gareth Dudley put a shot in the lower left hand corner of the net past Assumption keeper Dana King (Windham, Maine/Windham).
King made three saves as the team moves to 4-7-2 overall and 3-6-2 in Northeast-10 Conference play. The Ravens are now 9-3-2 overall and 7-2-2 in the league.
The Greyhounds return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 23 against Southern Conn. State University. The match will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Multi-Sport Stadium. Prior to the game, Assumption will recognize its senior class for their contributions to the program.
