Box Score Manchester, N.H. (October 20) -- The Assumption College volleyball team fell in five sets to the Hawks at the Stoutenburgh Gymnasium on the campus of Saint Anselm College on Saturday afternoon.
The Greyhounds came from two sets down to force a fifth set, but could not pull off the comeback as the team fell to 10-15 overall, including a 4-6 record in Northeast-10 Conference play. The Hawks improve to 8-10 overall, with a 4-4 record in league play.
Freshman Tara Reilly (Naples, Fla. / Northport) had a career-high 12 kills to lead all Greyhounds, while hitting a team-best .478. Junior Lauren Ostafin (Avon, Conn./Avon) posted a double-double with 11 kills and 20 digs for Assumption and sophomore Ann Donahue (Braintree, Mass./Braintree) had 10 kills.
Junior setter Kristin Flatekval (Mahwah, N.J./Immaculate Heart) distributed 42 assists to eight different Greyhounds, while notching three kills herself. Jess Reimers (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) had a team-high 21 digs in the match.
After falling down two sets to none, the Greyhounds improved their efficiency, hitting .208 in the third set, before hitting .429 in the fourth set, evening up the match. The set scores were 21-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-15, and 6-15.
The Greyhounds will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 28 for a tri-match will UMass Lowell and Molloy. The first match will begin at 12:00 p.m. in the Laska Gymnasium in Worcester, Mass.
