Worcester, Mass. (October 9) -- The Assumption College volleyball team dropped a 3-0 final to the University of New Haven on Tuesday evening at the Laska Gymnasium. The set scores were 15-25, 23-25, and 17-25.

The Greyhounds fall to 9-14 overall and 3-5 in league play, while New Haven improves to 13-1 overall and 6-0 in Northeast-10 Conference play. The Chargers were picked as the preseason number one, and currently stand in first place in the conference standings.

The Greyhounds were paced by junior Ryan Merle (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles), who finished with eight kills. Lauren Ostafin (Avon, Conn./Avon), Ann Donahue (Braintree, Mass./Braintree), and Mary Johnston (Pearland, Texas/Glenda Dawson) each finished with six kills for Assumption.

Junior Kristin Flatekval (Mahwah, N.J./Immaculate Heart) ended with 26 assists to lead Assumption.

For the Chargers, Keidy Candelaria finished with a match-high 14 kills to lead three New Haven players who had double-digit kills.

The Greyhounds will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 16, against Southern New Hampshire University. The game will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Manchester, N.H.
