Worcester, Mass. (March 24) -- The Assumption College women's lacrosse team rallied from a five-goal halftime deficit to defeat Southern New Hampshire University, 13-12, at the Multi-Sport Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman attack Amy McNeil (Orange, Conn./Amity) scored three goals for Assumption and Michelle Santos (Holliston, Mass./Holliston), Kathryn Beall (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury), and Camille Auger (Kennebunk, Maine/Kennebunk) each scored two goals, but Steph O'Rourke (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) gave Assumption its final lead on an unassisted goal with 5:26 to play in the game.

SNHU jumped out to a four-goal lead over the first 13 minutes, holding a 5-1 lead after Emily Mongeau scored a goal with 17:43 to play in the half. The Penmen built the lead up to as many as six, before McNeil notched a goal with 47 seconds remaining in the half to cut the lead to five.

Assumption controlled play in the second half, scoring eight of the first 10 goals, to take an 11-10 lead on McNeil's third goal of the game with with 13:34 left to play. The goal marked the first time Assumption led in the game.

SNHU answered with a goal a minute later to tie the game, but the Greyhounds took the lead back on a goal by Auger with 9:29 to play. After another Penmen goal tied the game, O'Rourke notched her lone goal of the game for the deciding score.

Michelle Monahan (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) made 12 saves in the victory as the Greyhounds improved to 2-4 and 1-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference, while Southern New Hampshire falls to 1-4 with the loss.

Assumption returns to the field on March 27 as the team travels to Le Moyne to take on the Dolphins. The game will begin at 3 p.m.
