Box Score Worcester, Mass. (April 14) -- The Assumption College women's lacrosse team lost to No. 11 ranked Bentley University at the Multi-Sport Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons were ranked 11 in the latest IWLCA Poll, and improved to 9-4 on the season, including 7-2 in Northeast-10 play, while Assumption falls to 4-8 and 2-6 in the league.
Freshman Amy McNeil (Orange, Conn./Amity) scored two second half goals to raise her total to 45 on the season, putting her in a tie with Karen Shaw for fourth on the single season all-time scoring list.
The Greyhounds scored the first goal of the game when Lindsay Hagerman (Scarborough, Maine) found the back of the net, but Bentley closed the first half on a seven goal run to take a 7-1 lead into the half.
Bentley added the first two goals of the second half to extend the lead to eight, 9-1, before Assumption started to chip away.
The Greyhounds out scored Bentley 7-6 in the season half, including five of the final seven goals, and got the score as close as four with two minutes to play. McNeil started the run with her 44th goal of the season, and senior captain Danielle D'Amico (Johnston, R.I./LaSalle Academy) notched a goal to cut the lead to six, 11-5.
Following a Bentley goal, Mcneil found the back of the net for her 45th tally of the season, before Camille Auger (Kennebunk, Maine/Kennebunk) and captain Steph O'Rourke (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) made it three Assumption goals in a row to cut the lead to four, 12-8.
Assumption will return to action on April 18, as the team will play host to American International College. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Multi-Sport Stadium
