Worcester, Mass. (Sept. 1) -- The Assumption College volleyball team kicked off its season with a victory over Concordia University at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Springfield, Mass. on Saturday.

The Greyhounds got a career-high eight kills from sophomore Ann Donahue (Braintree, Mass./Braintree), while Lauren Ostafin (Avon, Conn./Avon), and Mary Johnston (Pearland, Texas/Glenda Dawson) each added seven kills.

Senior captain Steph Whooten (Norton, Mass./Bishop Feehan) had 14 digs for the Greyhounds, while fellow captain Kristin Flatekval (Mahwah, N.J./Immaculate Heart) had 23 assists.

The Greyhounds won by game scores of 25-20, 26-24, and 25-20.

Assumption improves to 1-0 on the season with the victory.
