Worcester, Mass. (Sept. 5) -- Junior Bizzie Gonring (Whitefish Bay Wis./Dominican) had a team-high 13 kills, as the Assumption College volleyball team beat Southern N.H. in three sets in front of a raucous crowd at the Laska Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

Gonring recorded four kills in the first set, including the set-clinching kill, and five other Greyhounds recorded kills as Assumption cruised to a 25-17 win. The sophomore notched five kills in the second set, before finishing with four kills in the final set for her 13.

Sophomore Ann Donahue (Braintree, Mass./Braintree) finished with nine kills, while Ryan Merle (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) finished with eight kills.

Libero Jess Reimers (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) paced the team with 14 digs, while junior Mary Johnston (Pearland, Texas/Glenda Dawson) finished with 10 digs. Setter Kristin Flatekval (Mahwah, N.J./Immaculate Heart) finished with 30 assists.

The Greyhounds won the second set by a score of 25-22 before taking the final set, 25-29.

Assumption improves to 4-1 on the season, and will  travel to Boca Raton, Florida  on Thursday, Sept. 6 for a three-day tournament hosted by Lynn University. Assumption will play five matches in Florida before returning to New England to kick off its conference schedule at Stonehill College on Sept. 11.
