Greyhounds Drop 13-7 Final to No. 7 Le Moyne

Worcester, Mass. (April 9) -- The Assumption College women's lacrosse team dropped a 13-7 final to No. 7 Le Moyne College at the Multi-Sport Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. The Dolphins were number No. 7 in the latest IWLCA National Poll.

The Greyhounds fall to 8-5 with the loss and 5-4 in Northeast-10 Conference play, while the Dolphins improve to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in league play.

Junior Lindsay Hagerman (Scarborough, Maine / Scarborough) scored three goals on four shots in the game, while sophomore Camille Auger (Kennebunk, Maine / Kennebunk) scored two goals in the loss.

The Dolphins got on the board first at the 27:08 mark in the first half as Kaitlin Armstrong notched her seventh goal of the season.

The Greyhounds answered with two goals over an 11-second span starting with a goal by Hagerman at the 22:21 mark in the first half. Junior captain Kathryn Beall (Shrewsbury, Mass. / Shrewsbury) scored her 14th goal of the season 11 seconds later to give the Greyhounds a 2-1 lead.

The Dolphins rattled off seven-straight goals to end the half with an 8-2 lead. The Greyhounds came out of the half with the first score as Hagerman added her 19th goal of the season less than two minutes into the half.

Le Moyne added back-to-back goals to push the lead to seven, 10-3, before Auger cut into the lead with her 24th goal of the season with 23:59 to play off an assist by senior Steph O'Rourke (Amherst, N.H. / Souhegan).  After another Dolphin by Jennifer Fabian, the Greyhounds notched back-to-back goals by Hagerman and senior captain Michelle Santos (Holliston, Mass. / Holliston). The goals cut the lead to five, 11-6, with 17:22 remaining in regulation.

After seven scoreless minutes, The Dolphins extended the lead to six as Kathleen Conese recorded her 20th goal of the season at the 10:45 minute mark in the second half.

Auger cut into the Dolphin lead one last time 25 seconds later, but the Greyhounds could not draw any closer as Conese added an extra player goal with 6:13 to play in regulation for the 13-7 final.

The Greyhounds held a dominant 15-7 edge in draw controls, led by junior Mary Guinee (Topsfield, Mass. / Masconomet), who had a team-high four. Santos, O'Rourke and Beall each had three to rank second on the team.

Guinee and sophomore Allison Tivnan (Danvers, Mass. / Danvers) each caused a game-high two turnovers. Freshman Meghan Curtin (Chester, N.J. / West Morris) had a game-high five ground balls, while Hagerman and Santos each picked up three loose balls.

The Greyhounds are back in action on Saturday, April 13th at Bentley University. The game will begin at noon in Waltham, Mass.
