West Chester, Pa. (September 13) -- The Assumption College volleyball team swept a doubleheader against Chestnut Hill and Philadelphia Sciences at the 2013 Ramfest on Friday evening.

The Greyhounds took the first match against Chestnut Hill by a 3-1 final, with games scores of 25-18, 26-28, 26-24, and 25-18. Senior captain Mary Johnston (Pearland, Texas / Glenda Dawson) had a match-high 18 kills, hitting .429 while amassing 19.5 points. Fellow senior captain Lauren Ostafin (Avon, Conn. / Avon) had a double-double with 12 kills and 13 digs.

Senior Jess Reimers (Okemos, Mich. / Okemos) led the Greyhounds defensively with a team-best 25 digs while Courtney Bagwell (Diamond Bar, Calif. / Diamond Bar) had 17 digs in the match. Senior setter Kristin Flatekval (Mahwah, N.J. / Immaculate Heart) had 50 assists to lead the Greyhound attack.

Assumption also took the second match against Philadelphia Sciences by a 3-1 final with match scores of 25-14, 19-25, 25-10, and 25-19. Senior Ryan Merle (Skaneateles, N.Y. / Skaneateles) led the Greyhounds with nine kills while Flatekval passed out 25 assists in the win. Reimers added 19 more digs to bring her total to 44 on the evening.

The Greyhounds improve to 3-2 on the season with the two victories and will return to action on day two of Ramfest with a match against tournament host West Chester University at noon.
