Worcester, Mass. (September 24) -- The Assumption College volleyball team dropped a 3-1 final to The College of Saint Rose at the Laska Gymnasium on Tuesday evening. The set scores were 20-25, 25-18, 19-25, 9-25.

Senior Mary Johnston (Pearland, Texas / Glenda Dawson) had a team-high 11 kills in the match as the Greyhounds fall to 3-7 in the loss including a 0-2 record in Northeast-10 Conference play.

Johnston had her first double-double of the season, adding 12 digs, while sophomore Courtney Bagwell (Diamond Bar, Calif. / Diamond Bar) had a team-high 26 digs in the loss.

Senior Kristin Flatekval (Mahwah, N.J. / Immaculate Heart) had 27 assists in the loss, while Ariana Wilson led the Golden Knights with 25 assists. After dropping the first set, the Greyhounds bounced back with a huge second set, hitting .279 and led by eight kills by Johnston.

Three Golden Knights finished with at least 10 kills in the match, while Rachel Salasky led Saint Rose defensively with 39 digs.

The Greyhounds are back in action on Friday, September 27th as Assumption will travel to New Haven, Conn. to take on the Chargers. The match will begin at 7 p.m. at New Haven.
