Box Score  Easton, Mass (October 17) -- The Assumption College volleyball team fell in three sets at Stonehill College on Friday evening. Freshman Stephanie Hawley (Savannah, Ga. / St. Vincent's Academy) led the offense for the Hounds with nine kills while also registering 10 digs.
 Easton, Mass (October 17) -- The Assumption College volleyball team fell in three sets at Stonehill College on Friday evening. Freshman Stephanie Hawley (Savannah, Ga. / St. Vincent's Academy) led the offense for the Hounds with nine kills while also registering 10 digs. 
With the loss, the Hounds drop to 5-10 overall, 3-5 in the NE-10, while Stonehill improves to 15-4, 6-1 in the league.
Assumption dropped the first set by a score of 25-14 before nearly coming back to take the second, ultimately falling by just three points. In the third, the Hounds came close midway through the set, but the Skyhawks rallied for a 25-19 win.
In the second set, the Hounds were down 8-2 until a 4-1 run, including a kill from graduate student Alie Carlson (Amston, Conn. / RHAM), brought the Hounds within four. 
Assumption continued with a 6-3 stint, finished with a Hawley kill, to pull within one at 14-15, followed by an 8-1 run by the Skyhawks to make it 23-15. The Hounds responded with a 5-0 rally with freshman Kiki Romanik (San Rafael, Calif. / Sir Francis Drake) at the line to pull within three, 23-20. Assumption was able to notch two more points, making it 22-24 before the Skyhawks' Delia Phillips notched the final kill of the match, sealing Stonehill's victory.
The Hounds tallied 26 kills in the match compared to 39 for the Skyhawks. The Assumption offense was led by Hawley with nine kills, followed by Carlson who posted eight and senior Ann Donahue (Braintree, Mass. / Braintree), who added seven. 
Defensively, junior Courtney Bagwell (Diamond Bar, Calif. / Diamond Bar) led the Hounds with 16 digs, followed by Hawley with 10.
Assumption returns to action this Saturday at home against Franklin Pierce at 1 p.m.
