Worcester, Mass. (September 23) -- The Assumption College volleyball team (3-5, 1-0 NE-10) swept Le Moyne (2-8, 0-2 NE-10) in three sets on Tuesday evening at home in Laska Gymnasium to open conference play 1-0. Senior Ann Donahue (Braintree, Mass. / Braintree) led the Hounds on offense, posting a match-high 11 kills. 

Assumption claimed the first set by a score of 25-7 followed by a 25-20 win in set two. The Hounds closed the match with a 25-18 final in set three to clinch the win.

In front of a roaring crowd, Assumption came out dominating the offense in set one, posting 14 kills on 21 attacks for a .667 kill percentage. 

The Hounds continued the momentum throughout the match that included strong offensive performances by Donahue, graduate student Alie Carlson (Amston, Conn. / RHAM) and junior Tara Reilly (Northport, N.Y. / Northport). 

Carlson tallied eight kills on the day while Reilly, who leads the NE-10 in blocks per set (1.05), added seven. Both added one block assist. 

Donahue, who led the match in kills, also posted two digs and two block assists.

Defensively, junior Courtney Bagwell (Diamond Bar, Calif. / Diamond Bar) led the Hounds with 13 digs followed by freshman Stephanie Hawley (Savannah, Ga. / St. Vincent's Academy) who added 10.

The Hounds return to action on Thursday, Sept. 25 as they host New Haven for their second NE-10 match-up of the season at 7 p.m. in Laska Gymnasium.
