THE BASICS:

-The Lead: The Assumption College volleyball team claimed a 3-0 sweep over the visiting Hawks of Saint Anselm on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Hounds improve to 3-7 in the NE-10 headed into the final stretch of the regular season.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

-Senior Tara Reilly (Northport, N.Y. / Northport) led the Hounds with 11 kills on just 19 attempts on the day for an impressive .526 kill percentage. She was also the only player on either team to register a solo block. She accumulated three to tie her season-best against Mercy on Oct. 10.

-Sophomores Julia Goyette (Randolph, Mass. / Ursuline Academy) and Olivia Burke (Salem, N.H. / Salem) followed with seven kills apiece. Goyette's strikes came on just 13 attacks for an impressive .538 kill percentage. 

-Four Hounds notched points on service aces, including Goyette (3), senior Courtney Bagwell (Diamond Bar, Calif. / Diamond Bar) (2), Reilly (1) and sophomore Maria Chrisom (Dover, N.H. / Saint Thomas Aquinas) (1).

-Chrisom, along with freshman Kellie Smith (Richland, Mich. / Gull Lake) tied for most digs on the team with nine.

-Sophomore Kiki Romanik (San Rafael, Calif. / Sir Francis Drake) registered 29 assists for the Hounds, compared to 22 assists from Hawk setter Jewel Hays.

-Overall, Assumption posted 34 kills to Saint Anselm's 32.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-The Hounds claimed the first set with a close 25-22 victory. The Hawks got out to a quick 2-0 lead before the Hounds responded with three-straight points to take a 6-4 lead. The squads traded points for the remainder of the set and Assumption closed the match on three-straight, including a Romanik kill, for the win. 

-In set two, the Hounds got out to a 6-2 advantage and did not relinquish the lead throughout the entire set, earning a swift 25-17 victory.

-Assumption carried the momentum into set three, getting out to an impressive 8-1 lead. Saint Anselm steadily decreased the gap and came back to nearly tie the set, 19-18. Goyette notched a kill to increase the lead to two (20-18) as the Hounds fought to maintain the lead. Reilly ultimately tallied the match-point with her final kill of the night, 25-21.

UP NEXT: 

-The Hounds are on the road for their next three matches. Assumption travels to NE-10 opponents Pace, Franklin Pierce and Le Moyne, before returning home to host Merrimack on Saturday, Nov. 14 for Senior Day at 12 p.m.
