THE BASICS:

-The Lead: The Assumption College volleyball team fell by a final score of 3-0 on the road at Le Moyne on Tuesday night. The Hounds return home for Senior Day on Saturday, Nov. 14 when they host Merrimack at 12 p.m. in Laska Gymnasium.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

-Sophomore Olivia Burke (Salem, N.H. / Salem) led the Greyhound offense with nine kills on just 19 attempts for a .421 kill percentage while adding two blocks on the day.

-Senior Tara Reilly (Northport, N.Y. / Northport) followed with six kills and an impressive four blocks, including two solo.

-Sophomore Kiki Romanik (San Rafael, Calif. / Sir Francis Drake) dished 21 assists in the match up while notching one block.

-Defensively, Assumption was led by sophomore Maria Chrisom (Dover, N.H. / Saint Thomas Aquinas) and senior Courtney Bagwell (Diamond Bar, Calif. / Diamond Bar), who each posted 11 digs on the day.

-Le Moyne's Natalie Casson led all players with 15 kills.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-The Hounds fell in the first set by a final score of 25-14 despite getting on the board first with a kill from sophomore Stephanie Hawley (Savannah, Ga. / St. Vincent's Academy) to take a 1-0 lead. The Dolphins responded with a 10-2 run to take a 10-3 advantage and proceded to get out to a significant 23-11 lead. Assumption fought back, taking the next three points on a run that included a kill by freshman Kellie Smith (Richland, Mich. / Gull Lake) before Le Moyne clinched the set on a Marguerite Dillon service ace.

-Le Moyne gained a significant advantage in set two as well, getting out to a 20-12 lead, before Assumption rattled off three straight to make it 20-15 and traded points with the Dolphins to get as close as five, before Le Moyne earned the 25-20 final.

-In set three, the Hounds hung close for the first half of the set and pulled within two on a Burke kill, 7-9. A Le Moyne 6-1 run left the Hounds behind for good as Assumption would get no closer than four for the remainder of the match, and the Dolphins claimed the set 25-16.

UP NEXT: 

-The Hounds are set to host their final game of the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 12 p.m. against Merrimack. Assumption will celebrate Senior Day prior to the start of the match.
