THE BASICS:

- The Lead: On Wednesday night in the Northeast-10 Conference opener, the Assumption College men's basketball team dropped an 83-66 home final to visiting Stonehill College at Laska Gym.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Neither team led by more than four points over the first 16 minutes of the first half, including Assumption holding a 19-15 lead with 6:07 remaining after a three from senior Julian Aiken (Randolph, N.J./Randolph).
- The Skyhawks closed the opening half on a 23-9 run though, leading by as many as 11 en route to the 38-28 halftime margin.
- In the second half, Stonehill continued to lead by 10 at 51-41 with 13:56 left before a quick 6-0 run closed the Hounds to within just four at 51-47 after a three from sophomore Mat Sulda (Hatfield, Mass./Smith Academy). A 13-3 Skyhawk run over the next 3:37 pushed the lead back to 64-50 as the visitors posted the eventual 83-66 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Sophomore Kamali Bey (Springfield, Mass./Wilbraham & Monson Academy) led Assumption with 21 points and five rebounds, while Aiken added 11 points.
- Stonehill held a 42-30 advantage on the boards, including a 32-21 margin on the defensive glass.
- Carter Smith led all scorers with 25 points for Stonehill, while Ryan Logan posted a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double and Pierce Cumpstone had a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double.
