Mansfield, Mass. (March 10) -- The Assumption College men's tennis team has been selected to finish seventh in the 2015 Northeast-10 Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, the league has announced. The Greyhounds secured 53 votes from the league's coaches to finish seventh out of 11 NE-10 squads.

Merrimack was selected to finish atop the NE-10 field in 2015 with 95 total votes including eight first place votes.

Assumption returns seven Greyhounds this season including sophomore Chris Waung (Bolton, Conn. / East Catholic), as well as junior Viljami Rahnasto (Vantaa, Finland / Eiran lukio). The pair, who have been named captains for the 2014-15 season, helped lead the Hounds to a 9-8 record in the program's return to Assumption. Waung finished his freshman season 8-8 overall at No. 1. singles (4-6) while Rahnasto completed the season 11-4 (5-4 NE-10) at No. 2 and No. 3 singles combined.

Also returning for the Hounds is sophomore Marco Leung (Macao / The International School of Macao) who went an impressive 12-1 last season including an 8-1 mark in conference play. Leung went 3-1 at No. 2 singles and a perfect 9-0 at No. 3 singles.

Other returners to the young squad include sophomores Casey Hodor (Wickford, R.I. / Bishop Hendricken), Tom Knight (Wilbraham, Mass. / Minnechaug Regional), Zack Slepchuk (Holyoke, Mass. / Saint Mary's) and Jakob Zylak (Dunbarton, N.H. / Coe-Brown Northwood Academy). This year's roster is comprised of one junior, six sophomores and one freshman.
