Syracuse, N.Y. (April 29) -- On Wednesday afternoon in the Northeast-10 Championship Quarterfinals, the Assumption College women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-1 final to No. 3 ranked Le Moyne at Ted Grant Field. The Hounds end the season at 10-8 overall, setting the program's single-season record for victories.

The Dolphins jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the early moments before freshman Meghan Cushing (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) tallied the 13th goal of her rookie season as she led all Assumption first-year scorers with 20 points on 13 goals and seven assists in 18 games. Le Moyne closed the first half on an 8-0 scoring run as the Dolphins took a 10-1 advantage into the halftime break.

In the second period, Le Moyne kept up the offensive pressure with a 16-4 advantage in shots as the Dolphins came away with the eventual 18-1 final margin. The playoff appearance was the fourth overall for Assumption since the program's inception in 1998.

Sophomore Jaclyn Chirco (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) made eight saves in the loss, while Molly Marbut had 10 stops for the win.

Le Moyne held a 23-16 advantage in ground balls, while Assumption forced 17 Dolphin turnovers in the loss. Amari Pollard led all scorers for Le Moyne with a six-goal performance as three Dolphins finished with multiple goals.

Assumption, seeded seventh in the championship, ends the season at 10-8 overall, while Le Moyne advances to the semifinals with a 16-2 record.
