-The Lead: The Assumption College men's tennis team fell by a score of 6-3 in Sunday's dual match to Nichols College in Dudley, Mass. Sunday's match marks the second of back-to-back matches this weekend after falling to Coast Guard on Saturday. Junior Chris Waung (Bolton, Conn. / East Catholic) tallied two points for the Hounds on Sunday, taking both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
-Waung paired up with sophomore Ryan Foster (Bloomfield, Conn. / Classical Magnet) to compete against Blake Norton and Igor Markowski at No. 1 doubles. The Hounds took the match 8-5, to give Assumption their only point in doubles play.
-In singles play, Waung fell 7-6 after a tiebreaker in set one before coming back to take set two 6-4 and set three 10-8 at No. 1 singles over Norton.
-At No. 2 singles, Foster defeated Nichols' Josh Halpern by a score of 6-1, 6-3 to earn his second point for Assumption.
BEHIND THE NUMBERS
- Waung's victories in Sunday's match mark the first for him so far this season.
- Foster was the only player for the Hounds to earn a point in both matches this weekend, winning No. 2 singles against Coast Guard on Saturday and No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles against Nichols.
