THE BASICS:

- The Lead: Led by four goals each from sophomore Meghan Cushing (Gorham, Maine/Gorham) and freshman Kailyn Hart (Cohoes, N.Y./Shaker), the Assumption College women's lacrosse team evened its record at 2-2 overall with a 16-7 home win over Dominican College on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Assumption got on the board just 29 seconds into the game as junior Julianna Molloy (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) scored on a free position shot for the 1-0 lead. Sophomore Jen McDonald (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) scored on a free position chance with 14:19 left in the first half as the Hounds opened the game with a 7-0 lead.
- Hart put the Hounds up 11-2 with 3:59 on the clock in the first period before the Chargers closed to within 12-4 at the break with goals by Amber June and Katie Dascher in the final moments of the half.
- The Hounds opened the second on a four-goal scoring run, capped by the first career goal from freshman Lexi Finn (Denville, N.J./Morris Catholic) for the 16-4 lead with 11:04 left. The Chargers closed the game on a 3-0 run behind two goals from Shayne Gallagher and one from Dascher.
- Junior goalie Jaclyn Chirco (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) had four saves in the win, while Dominican goalie Brittany Kiernan made 11 stops to in the defeat.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Eight different players found the net for Assumption as seven of the team's 16 goals were assisted on. Molloy picked up her third multi-goal game of the season as she now leads the team with 11 goals in four games.
- Assumption held a commanding 19-6 edge in draw controls and was successful on 11-of-12 clear attempts. In addition, the Hounds forced 22 Charger turnovers and were 3-for-8 in free position chances.
- In addition to four goals and one assist, Meghan Cushing led the team with nine draw controls and four ground balls.
- For Dominican, Dascher, June and Gallagher each posted two goals, while Brandi Clay finished with two assists.
