THE BASICS:

-Location: In a quick match on a windy Thursday afternoon, the Assumption College men's tennis team claimed an 8-1 victory over the visiting Hawks of Saint Anselm College at the Assumption College Tennis Courts. The win marks the first NE-10 victory of the season for the Hounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
-The Hounds kicked off the contest with a three-match sweep in doubles competition. Junior Chris Waung (Bolton, Conn. / East Catholic) and sophomore Ryan Foster (Bloomfield, Conn. / Classical Magnet) took the No. 1 doubles match 8-4 while junior Marco Leung (Macao / The International School of Macao) and freshman Reb Mariano (New London, Conn. / Saint Andrew's School) claimed the No. 2 match 8-2.
-At No. 3 doubles, juniors Casey Hodor (North Kingstown, R.I. / Bishop Hendricken) and Tom Knight (Wilbraham, Mass. / Minnechaug Regional) won by a score of 8-5.
-Waung, Foster, Leung, Mariano and Knight each took their singles match for the eight-win total. All five won in straight sets.
-Both Waung and Foster finished 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
-Leung earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 followed by Mariano with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4.
-At No. 6, Knight won the first set 6-4 before putting away the second set, 6-1.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
-Foster now improves to 5-0 in dual-match competition at No. 2 singles.
-Leung also remains undefeated, boasting a 2-0 record at No. 3 singles after just two matches of competition.
-Leung and Mariano are also undefeated as a pair, going 2-0 at No. 2 doubles.
-Waung is now 4-1 on the season in dual-match competition at No. 1 singles.

-The Hounds are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 2 when they host Franklin Pierce for a 6 p.m. contest in their indoor facility in Paxton, Mass.
