- The Lead: On Sunday afternoon, the Assumption College women's lacrosse team used a four-goal outing from junior Julianna Molloy (Guilford, Conn./Guilford) to power to a 12-9 road victory at Molloy College.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Freshman Sarah Reilly (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield-Warde) got the Hounds on the board just 3:07 into the game with her first collegiate goal. Freshman Kailyn Hart (Cohoes, N.Y./Shaker) followed with her first collegiate tally 2:30 later as the Hounds eventually built to a 5-0 advantage over the first 12:05 of play.

- Reilly's second goal came with 8:23 remaining in the first half to stretch the advantage to 7-2 before the Hounds took the eventual 8-3 lead into halftime.

- In the second, Molloy staked Assumption to an 11-5 edge and the Hounds continued to lead by a 12-7 margin with just 6:51 remaining as sophomore Caitlin Graves (Ashland, Mass./Ashland) tallied a man-up goal.

- For the Lions, Casie Caiazza and Jessica Markotwitz scored late as Molloy dropped the three-goal final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

- Assumption held a 20-13 advantage in ground balls, along with being successful on 18-of-19 clear attempts.

- The Hounds converted 2-of-6 free position chances, while the Lions held the 14-9 advantage in draw controls.

- Molloy led the Hounds with four goals, while junior Tori Russo (South Windsor, Conn./South Windsor) had two goals and Reilly posted two goals and one assist. For Molloy, three Lions finished with two goals in the loss.

- Junior goalie Jaclyn Chirco (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) had 13 saves in the victory, while Molloy netminder Caroline Winters made 11 stops to take the loss.

- The Hounds are back in action on Tuesday, March 8th as the team travels to No. 5 LIU Post for a 1 p.m. start in Brookville, N.Y.
