HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Southern Connecticut got off to the quick start with a 4-0 lead midway through the first half. Capping off the scoring run was Jennifer McCarthy with 16:01 on the clock as she tallied a man-up goal for her second score of the game.

- Sophomore Jen McDonald (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) got Assumption on the board with an unassisted goal that sparked a 7-0 scoring run as the Hounds seized the 7-4 edge with 18:06 left in regulation. After a goal from freshman Sarah Reilly (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield-Warde) put the Hounds up 8-5, the Owls answered with three goals over a span of just 2:48 to tie the game at 8-8. The teams traded goals over the final moments of regulation and the game headed into the extra period.
