THE BASICS:

The Lead: Assumption trailed by 14 points at the half before coming back to cut the deficit to one in the final ten seconds, and got off a game-tying three at the buzzer, but it came up short as the Hounds fell to Stonehill 70-67 on senior day.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Stonehill scored the first 13 points of the game, before Austin Kearney (Monroeville, Pa. / Gloucester County Christian) ended the scoring drought for the Hounds at the eight minute mark. The Skyhawks again extended their lead to thirteen at 8:23 and maintained their advantage into the half, as a fastbreak layup in the waning seconds made it 37-23 through 20 minutes.

-  Assumption opened the second half trading baskets with the Skyhawks. At the 18-minute mark, Ryan Logan knocked down a jumper for the Skyhawks, extending their lead to 44-27. Damien Rance, (Melbourne, Australia / Pope John XXIII) answered with a three-pointer at 17:18, cutting into the deficit and Branislav Vujadinovic (Belgrade, Serbia / St. Joseph) trimmed the lead to single-digits with a jumper at the 15:50 mark.

- The Greyhounds continued to gain momentum with a series of turnovers by the Skyhawks, and pulled within four, 44-40, with 13:30 remaining. Stonehill answered with two three point field goals by Largey and Logan as part of a 10-5 run to extend the lead to nine.

- Declan Soukup, (Melbourne, Australia / Hallam Senior College) eventually knocked down a three, trimming the Skyhawks lead to five with 7:37 remaining. Justin Tuckson, (Stafford, VA / Christ Chapel Academy) provided a spark off the bench for Assumption and they cut it just 63-60. Stonehill responded but Soukup scored a layup, making it just 66-64 with 40 seconds left.

- Two Skyhawk free throws pushed the lead to four, but Vujadinovic connected on a triple to trail 68-67 with nine seconds left. Stonehill made two free throws and a last-second three by Soukup was off the mark as the Hounds fell by three.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Assumption shot 44.3 percent from the floor and was an impressive 9 of 19 from downtown, but Stonehill made 47.5 of its field goal attempts and was 6-fo15 from beyond the arc.

- The Hounds held a slight 35-34 rebounds edge and their bench outscored the Skyhawks' 36-5, but they turned the ball over two more times (12-10).

- Vujadinovic scored 17 points in the second half and finished the contest with career-high 22 on 8 of 13 shooting. He had four triples along with five rebounds, one steal and one block. Soukup was in double figures with ten points, six rebounds and four assists. Rance chipped in 11 points, six rebounds and three assists.

- Logan led Stonehill with 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists while Isaiah Bess added 18 points, two assists and two steals.
