The Lead: Freshman Brendan Philippon (Salem, N.H./ Philadelphia Flyers (USPHL Premier)) tallied two goals and an assist to lead Assumption to a 4-1 victory over Franklin Pierce to earn the Hounds a spot in the NE10 Tournament next weekend.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Ravens got on the board first when Matthew Toombs scored on an assist from Connor Mauro and Jonathan Haun to take the lead 1-0 with 11:56 left in the first period.
- At 7:54 in the second Mike Sorenti (Sagamore Beach, Mass. / Archbishop Williams (MA HS)) tallied the game-tying goal when he netted a feed from Philippon.
- With 1:34 left in the second, Philippon scored the go-ahead goal when Brian Farrell (Island Park, N.Y./ South Kent School (USPHL 18)) and Sorenti found him open in the slot to make the score 2-1 heading into the third.
- At 6:03 in the third, Philippon found the back of the net again when he picked up a loose puck in front off a rebound from defenseman Dante Tomassini (North Branford, Conn./Connecticut Jr. Wolfpack (EHL)).
- The Ravens would pull their goaltender in attempt to comeback but Tomassini scored an empty net goal to end the game with a 4-1 advantage.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Assumption outshot Franklin Pierce 34-22 in the contest and went 1-for-5 on the powerplay.
- Senior Nick Commesso (Marshfield, Mass. / Walpole Express (AJHL)) held the Ravens 0-for-4 on the powerplay and made 21 saves to earn the win, while Tom McGuckin made 30 saves in the loss

- The Hounds will play their final regular season game on Tuesday February 14th at the Buffone Arena against Worcester State. With this win Assumption will be traveling to Saint Anselm this Saturday for the first round of the NE10 Tournament to face the top-seeded Hawks..
