THE BASICS:

- The Lead: Senior Kiki Romanik (San Rafael, Calif. / Sir Francis Drake) dished out a season high 49 assists and the Assumption volleyball team rolled past Southern New Hampshire 3-1 in NE10 Conference play in Laska Gymnasium today.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Assumption opened up an early 9-6 lead in the first set over Southern New Hampshire, highlighted by an Olivia Burke (Salem, N.H. / Salem) kill. The lead ballooned to 20-14 when Romanik set up junior Kellie Smith (Richland, Mich. / Gull Lake) for a kill. The Hounds closed out the set on a 6-3 run, finishing the set with a 26-17 win.

- After Southern New Hampshire tied the match at 1-1, Assumption rallied to take set three, 27-25. The Hounds took advantage of ten errors on the Penmen in the set, while freshmen Waylin Walls Parker (Beecher, Ill. / Beecher) and Mary Campbell (Plainville, Mass. / Bishop Feehan) combined for seven kills.

- The Hounds took the fourth set and the match, 25-19. After the two teams exchanged points that led to a score of 10-10, Assumption earned the next points and never conceded the lead for the remainder of the set. They recorded 19 kills in the set which was the most of the match, while also registering a .317 kill percentage.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Romanik was the engine that made the offense go, as the senior recorded a season high 49 assists. She also posted 13 digs and six kills over the four sets.

- Senior Julia Goyette (Randolph, Mass. / Ursuline Academy) led the attack with 13 kills, while Smith had 11 and Burke and Campbell recorded ten apiece.

- Defensively, senior Maria Chrisom (Dover, N.H. / Saint Thomas Aquinas) led all players with 33 digs, while freshman Ariana Orcera (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico / Colegio Marista) tied her career high with 15.
