THE BASICS:

- Score: St. Michael's 3, Assumption 0  (25-13, 21-25, 25-22, 25-23)

- Record: St. Michael's (1-6, 1-1 NE10), Assumption (3-9, 1-2 NE10)

- Location: Colchester, Vt. (Ross Sports Center)

- The Lead: Assumption and St. Michael's were even through two sets, however, the Purple Knights captured the final two sets 25-22 and 25-23 to come away with a home victory on Tuesday evening in Colchester.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- St. Michael's opened up a 13-5 lead in the opening set and extended its advantage to 21-10. The team's traded points but the Purple Knights came out on top 25-13.

- Assumption rebounded in the second set to grab an 11-8 advantage on a kill by Waylin Walls Parker (Beecher, Ill. / Beecher). St. Michael's tied it up before six straight by the Hounds gave them a 17-12 advantage. The lead didn't drop below two again and a block by Ariana Orcera (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico / Colegio Marista) and Olivia Burke (Salem, N.H. / Salem) sealed the 25-21 win.

- The two teams were even through the first 14 points, before a Purple Knight run gave them a 16-11 advantage. Assumption countered with a 9-3 run to pull in front 20-19, however, St. Michael's came back to take the set 25-22.

- Assumption jumped out to an 8-5 lead in the fourth. The Purple Knights responded with a run for the 16-13 lead. They then led 20-16, until the Hounds went on a 6-2 run to tie the contest 22 apiece. It was even again at 23-23 before back-to-back kills provided St. Michael's with the victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- St. Michael's hit .199 with 53 kills while Assumption had 46 kills and hit .185. The Hounds added 56 digs and a season-high 14 blocks.

- Kellie Smith (Richland, Mich. / Gull Lake) led the team with 13 kills and six digs while Burke hit .316 with ten kills and nine total blocks. Kiki Romanik (San Rafael, Calif. / Sir Francis Drake) posted a double-double of 36 assists and ten digs while Maria Chrisom (Dover, N.H. / Saint Thomas Aquinas) had a team-high 15 digs. Julia Goyette (Randolph, Mass. / Ursuline Academy) chipped in nine kills and four blocks.

- McKenzie McNamara led the Purple Knights with 12kills while Gabby Ratte has 22 assists, 12 digs and nine kills.
