THE BASICS:

- Score: American International 3, Assumption 0

- Records: American International (7-14, 5-2 NE10), Assumption (3-15, 1-7 NE10)

- Location: Worcester, Mass. (Laska Gymnasium)

- The Lead: American International controlled the first two sets before Assumption took the momentum in the third set. The Hounds were unable to finish the set and American International took the 3-0 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- In the first set, Assumption took a 4-2 lead before the Yellow Jackets were able to tie it up 4-4. The set was tied four more times before American International scored seven unanswered points only broken up by one Assumption point. The Yellow Jackets then went on to score five more straight points before finishing the set 25-13.

- American International kept their momentum in the second set when they took a 9-5 lead forcing the Hounds to take a timeout. After the timeout, the two teams traded points until Assumption scored three unanswered to get within two (16-14). The Yellow Jackets answered with five straight points themselves to take a 21-14 lead and eventually won the set 25-17

- The third set started with back-and-forth action with neither team scoring more than two points consecutively. American International ended that stretch when they scored three straight to take a 13-7 lead. The Hounds answered with four straight points themselves to get within two (16-14) of the Yellow Jackets and then ended up tying the set at 17 apiece. The set was tied two more times before American International strung points together to take the set 25-21 and the match 3-0.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Alana Hruska (Marlborough, Conn./RHAM) led the Hounds the 10 kills followed by both Tess Haller (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) and Ariana Orcera (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Marista) with five kills apiece.

- Kyra Belden (Hollis, N.H./Hollis-Brookline High School) earned 13 assists in the match while Danielle Zarcone (Hauppauge, N.Y./Smithtown High School West) added eight.

- Alexandra Krawczyk (East Patchogue, N.Y./Bellport) recorded 17 digs while Orcera earned 11 and Zarcone added eight.
