THE BASICS:

- Score: Saint Rose 3, Assumption 1

- Records: Saint Rose (7-6), Assumption (2-9)

- Location: Worcester, Mass. (Laska Gymnasium)

- The Lead: Saint Rose controlled the first two sets before Assumption rallied back to win the third and send the match to a fourth set. The Hounds lost steam and fell 3-1 to the Golden Knights.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Saint Rose took control of the first set with an 11-3 lead and advanced it to 19-8 before the Hounds could put together more than two points consecutively. Assumption got within eight (19-11) before the Golden Knights gained back their momentum and won the set 25-16.

- The second set was more of a back-and-forth battle despite Saint Rose starting the scoring. The Hounds tied the match up at 3-3 and 6-6 before the Golden Knights earned a small cushion at 12-7. Assumption put together four straight points to get within one (13-12) before Saint Rose gained control and too the set 25-16 for a 2-0 lead in the match.

- The Hounds felt the pressure in the third set and rose to the occasion gaining a 10-6 lead. The Golden Knights fought back to within one-point (10-9) before Assumption scored five straight to extend their lead to six (15-9). After back-and-forth action, the Hounds came out victorious and took the set 25-20 and made the match 2-1.

- Saint Rose put the Hounds on their heels in the fourth set with a 9-2 lead right out of the gate. Despite a few three-point rallies, Assumption was unable to recover and dropped the fourth set 25-16 and the match 3-1.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Both Ariana Orcera (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Colegio Marista) and Jill Orosz (Bridgewater, Mass./Cardinal Spellman) earned seven kills on the night to lead the Hounds while Waylin Walls Parker (Beecher, Ill./Beecher) tallied five.

- The two freshmen setters, Danielle Zarcone (Hauppauge, N.Y./Smithtown High School West) and Kyra Belden (Hollis, N.H./Hollis-Brookline High School) earned 13 sets apiece while Belden also recorded seven digs.

- Alexandra Krawczyk (East Patchogue, N.Y./Bellport) led the Hounds with 24 digs while Orcera added 15.
