-The Lead: The Assumption University women's volleyball team fell to the Hawks of Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday evening. This was the two teams second time meeting this season with the Hawks taking both matches by scores of 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

-Saint Anselm played the Greyhounds close in the first set with the score tied at nine near the midpoint of the match. From there, the Hawks fired off three consecutive points to capture a 13-9 lead, thanks to two attacking errors by Assumption. Saint Anselm used a late 5-2 scoring run and wrapped up the set with two consecutive points, winning by a 25-19 score in the opener.

-With the score tied at six in the second set, Assumption used four attacking errors by Saint Anselm in a six-point span to capture an 11-8 lead. The Hawks swung momentum completely in their favor with each of the next six points issued Saint Anselm's way – with a 15-11 lead at that point, the Greyhounds would come no closer than one point the rest of the set.

-Assumption led by as many as three points in the third set before the Hawks produced five consecutive points following a timeout, building a 10-9 lead. The advantage for the hosts grew to three points, 14-11, to force the Greyhounds to use a timeout themselves. The break worked as Assumption tied the game at 16 with a 5-2 scoring run.

-With the third set tied at 18 following, Saint Anselm scored three more points thereafter to take a 21-18 advantage. The Hawks kept Assumption at arm's reach from that point forward, never letting the Saint Anselm lead dip below two points – the final three points for the Hawks came off miscues by the Greyhounds.
