WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University men's ice hockey team scored four unanswered goals in the final 13 minutes to rally past Worcester State University in the opening round of the 2022 Woo Cup at the Worcester Ice Center Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Colin Philippon opened the scoring early, as he found the back of the net at the 2:05 marker of the first quarter. That lead was short-lived, as the Lancers responded with one 1:37 later.
Sean O'Connell added a goal late in the first period to put the Greyhounds up 2-1 after 20 minutes.
Worcester State used the man advantage to regain the lead in the second period and added an even-strength tally to complete the three-goal period.
Ronny Paragallo added a short-handed goal in the middle of the two power-play goals for WSU.
After a Lancer goal at the 5:46 mark of the third period, the Greyhounds came racing back, as they netted four unanswered goals to complete the comeback. This included the game-tying goal from
William Smith just past the halfway mark of the period (10:31) and Philippon's second of the game, which proved to be the game-winner with 1:15 remaining in regulation.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Drew Benedict picked up the win for the Blue and White as he turned aside 30 shots.
- Both sides fired 35 shots, while the Greyhounds blocked ten shots to the Lancers' six
- Assumption went 1-for-5 on the man advantage, while Worcester State was 2-for-7.
