HOW IT HAPPENED
Saint Anselm was the first team to find the back of the net 6:36 into the first period, as Chase Reynolds started the scoring. Assumption would strike twice in the latter half of the opening frame;
Dara Conneely and
Christopher Stalmok found the back of the net, giving the Greyhounds a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes. Tommy Schwartz tied the game in the final seconds of the second period, as he found the equalizer with nine seconds remaining in the middle frame.
Chase Reynolds again gave Saint Anselm's a lead, putting the hosts up 3-2. The Assumption offense exploded for numerous goals in the third period for the second straight game.
Colin Philippon, Stalmok,
Sean O'Connell, Conneely, and
Jimmy McDermott all registered goals in a matter of 11:15 of game action, giving the Greyhounds a 7-3 lead. The Hawks added a goal in the final two minutes, but the Assumption lead was too great to overcome.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Drew Benedict picked up the for the Hounds, recording 30 stops.
- Assumption outshot Saint Anselm 38-34, while the Hawks won 42-of-78 faceoffs.
- In the third period this year, Assumption is outscoring their opposition 15-7
