PREVIEW: Greyhounds Set To Host No.20 Slippery Rock in NCAA First Round

WORCESTER, Mass. - Assumption's NE10 fate was already decided before the game vs. Post, as they were crowned Northeast-10 Conference champions for the third time in program history. A win assured them a solid chance to host a first-round game in the NCAA Division II Tournament. The Greyhounds took advantage of their opportunity, steamrolling past a winless Post University, 65-21. Looking ahead, Assumption will host No. 20 Slippery Rock of the PSAC on Saturday, November 19th, at Brian Kelly 83' Stadium at noon.

While the defense wasn't as suffocating as it has been in past matchups, it certainly did enough to provide the win, as Jake Cady had six total touchdowns to help the Greyhounds tally home 65 total points of offense. Sixty-five points are the most scored by the Greyhounds since they put up 66 against Saint Anselm on September 14th, 2018. Assumption now faces off vs. Slippery Rock on Saturday in the first round of the NCAA Division II Tournament. This is the second meeting between the two sides, as Slippery Rock won the first meeting back in the NCAA Division II Second Round in 2015, 41-38. The Greyhounds clinched the NE10 by holding the head-to-head matchup with the University of New Haven.

The Rock fell to Kutztown in their regular season finale, 23-21, as the Golden Bears put the game away with a 61-yard touchdown pass with 5:59 remaining in regulation. Slippery Rock is ranked third in the PSAC with 32.5 points per game while supporting the top defense in the conference (14.5). They dropped two games this season, falling to Indiana University (PA) 20-12 at the beginning of October before falling to Kutztown this past weekend.

Fans attending the game in Worcester must be aware of the policies at Brian Kelly 83' Stadium on the campus of Assumption University. Live Stats and Live Video will also be available to those watching from another location.
