HOW IT HAPPENED
The offense continued to click on all cylinders for the Greyhounds on Saturday as Assumption cruised to a 23-point win against the Chargers.
Molly Stokes led the way for Assumption with 24 points, shooting 64.3 percent from the field and making 9-of-14 from the field. The game started a bit slower, with the Greyhounds taking a six-point lead into the second quarter. An emphasis on defense and limiting turnovers sparked a 19-8 second quarter that created too large of a distance for the Chargers to come back from, as the Greyhounds went into the break with a 40-23 lead.
Amanda Mieczkowski and
Marina Callahan also continued their strong offensive play, combining for 27 points to round out the scoring for Assumption. The second half was more of the same for Assumption, and a late run from the Chargers in the fourth quarter was not enough to overcome the shooting from the Greyhounds. Assumption hung on for an 82-59 win and improved to 5-0 on the season.
