WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University women's basketball team pushed their winning streak to 6-0 as they picked up a 64-49 win over Mercy College in non-conference action Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Greyhounds started strong, as they raced out to an early 6-0 lead. The two teams would trade baskets for the remainder of the first quarter, as Assumption would carry a 16-13 lead into the second. The hosts would slowly expand their lead to nine points (29-17) following an
Amanda Mieczkowski jumper with 6:16 showing on the clock. Mieczkowski added to the Assumption lead in the final seconds, as her jumper that beat the buzzer gave the Greyhounds a ten-point spread (35-25) heading into halftime.
Assumption came out of the break on the attack, as they grabbed six quick points, pushing their lead to 16 (41-25) early into the third quarter. The Greyhounds continued to see their lead expand, as it ballooned to a 22-point game (52-30), as
Grace Leary scored on a layup with 1:53 remaining in the frame.
In the fourth,
Molly Stokes gave the host their largest lead of the game (26, 59-33) as she drained a shot from long distance at the 7:34 mark. The Mavericks would chip away at the deficit down the stretch, but the Greyhounds' lead was too much to overcome, giving Assumption a 64-49 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Molly Stokes led all scorers with 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting.
- Assumption controlled the paint this evening, outscoring the Chargers 44-22.
- The Blue and White continued positive shooting performances, going 55.1 percent from the field overall and 40.0 percent from beyond the arc.
