WORCESTER, Mass – A historical night at Laska Gymnasium, while the No. 17 Assumption University women's basketball team improved to 7-0; Head Coach Kerry Phayre became the headline, as she became the winningest head coach in Assumption history, with a 64-31 victory over Saint Michael's College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
With the combination of beautiful ball movement and active defense, the Greyhounds quickly controlled the game from the opening tip vs. Saint Michael's, jumping out to a 26-14 lead and then going on a seven-point run to end the half. Assumption forced multiple shot clock violations and turnovers and scored fast points in transition to open the game up. Molly Stokes led the way with nine points, while Armstrong and Curran had seven at halftime. The Greyhounds forced 15 turnovers in the first half and scored 17 points off of those turnovers.

It was more of the same in the second half, as the defense continued to swarm the Purple Knight players, giving them minimal options going forward. Going into the 4th quarter, Assumption saw themself hold a 23-point lead. The fourth quarter was more of the same, with some reserves getting some action to end the evening. The Greyhound lead jumped to 33, and they walked away with a 64-31 victory.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Head Coach Kerry Phayre became the winningest Assumption coach in school history with the victory (413), as she surpassed Ralph DeLucia, who coached the softball team to a 412-384-6.
• Molly Stokes led the way with 17 points, while Ja'Lyn Armstrong had a strong showing with 15
• The Greyhounds held Saint Michael's to an overall shooting percentage of 24.4 percent
• Assumption forced 26 turnovers and scored 29 points off of those turnovers
• The Blue and White are 7-0 to start a season since the 2012-13 campaign.
