WORCESTER, Mass. – The Assumption University men's ice hockey team dropped a 4-2 decision to Saint Michael's College, Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action.

Records: Greyhounds (7-6-0, 4-3-0 NE10), Purple Knights (4-6-1, 3-4-1 NE10)
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
For the second straight game, Saint Michael's opened the scoring, as Jack Bavis found the back of the net at the 15:59 marker. The Purple Knights would carry a 1-0 lead into the second period as they outshot the hosts 13-10.
 
Michael Zampanti would tie the game early in the second period, as he scored off the Colin Philippon assists. Saint Michael's regained the lead right before the end of the middle frame as Zach Taylor capitalized on the powerplay. Fifteen seconds later, Owen Rudicus pushed the SMC advantage to 3-1, scoring with 1:55 showing on the game clock. The Greyhounds responded right before the end of the second frame; Colin Montgomery went coast-to-coast off the defensive zone faceoff and got Assumption within one (3-2).
 
Saint Michael's would tack on another goal in the third period to bring the final score to 4-2 Purple Knights.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Thomas McLarnon recorded 19 saves in the crease for Assumption.
• Assumption outshot Saint Michael's 34-23 while also winning 35-of-65 faceoffs.
• With the win, Saint Michael's College snapped a six-game winning streak that Assumption began in January of 2020.
• The Greyhounds went 0-for-3 on the man advantage, while the Purple Knights went 2-for-4.
